Originally from Maliotenam in northeastern Quebec, the singer-songwriter Shauit sings in Innu, his native language, as well as in French and English. Merging traditional Innu music with folk and reggae, he offers honest, engaging songs, filled with emotion and personal experience. Being notably the recipient of the RIDEAU and RADARTS prizes (showcase at ROSEQ 2015) and
having participated in multiple showcases both at national and international level, the influence of Shauit and the requests for his music keep increasing, being also used for feature films and television series. Since the release of his latest album in 2017, Shauit has played all over the world and he has conquered a loyal audience with his innovative and mixed style. Shauit is a proud representative of Indigenous culture around the world and has even won the prestigious award for “Best Album of the Year in Indigenous Language in North America” at the 2018 Indigenous Music Awards.
