The singer-songwriter-performer from northeastern Quebec’s Maliotenam sings in Innu, his Aboriginal language, as well as in French and in English. Shauit has a unique point of view : he writes honest, politically aware songs that mixes Innu traditional music, indigenous folk and other popular genre (Reggae / dancehall, rock, folk, etc). Aside from being the recipient of the RIDEAU and RADARTS prizes in 2015, requests for his music continue to grow, being featured in films and used as theme song of TV series. Following an eventful summer in 2016 that brings him to play throughout all of Canada, and Chicago, Shauit will soon release a new song titled “Tshin Nituassin (My Child)” which is currently the opening theme for the Urban Nation show on MaTV. This song is announcing his new album to be released early 2017. Shauit is a proud ambassador of Aboriginal and Indigenous culture.
